Minnesota Man Vanished in River After Rescuing His Children
Elk River, MN (KROC-AM News) - A search effort continues this afternoon along the Mississippi River on the northwestern edge of the Twin Cities. The Sherburne County Sheriff's Office says the search was launched late Friday morning after deputies responded to a section of the river in Elk River after receiving reports that a man had gone underwater and failed to resurface. The 911 call came in around 11:45 AM.

(Elk River, MN) -- Crews in central Minnesota's Sherburne County continue searching for a man who went under late Friday morning in the Mississippi River by a park in Elk River after rescuing his two children who were struggling in the current. The sheriff's office says the father helped one of the children to a sandbar and supported the other long enough to push the child to shore before going underwater himself. Over a dozen local, county, and state agencies were involved in the search as of late Friday afternoon.
Body of Elk River Man Recovered From Mississippi River
The body of a man missing in the Mississippi River near Elk River was recovered Sunday morning. The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to an emergency call just before 12 noon on Friday. A man and his two children had been swimming on a sandbar in the river at the Rivers Edge Commons in Elk River.
