Great Northern Bean Recipe: Easy and Delicious!

I made up a crockpot of great northern beans today and thought I would share with you my recipe. They are so easy and delicious everytime. You will need the following ingredients:

Recipe:

1 1/2 cups of dried great northern beans

3 tablespoons of butter

1 1/2 teaspoon of salt

1/2 teaspoon of pepper

Adjust the salt and pepper as needed

Wash and go through the beans to make sure that they are not any rocks or other debris in them. I have found several different items in my cooking days.

Place the dried beans in a container that is at least 4 cups and add 3 cups of water to them and place them in the refrigerator overnight.

Drain the water off of the great northern beans and rinse them.

Place the beans into at least a 2 quart crockpot or slow cooker and cover them with 2 inches of water and let them cook. Cook on high for 4 hours or on low for 6 - 8 hours.

I do not add the salt, pepper and butter until after the beans have cooked.

After adding the seasonings let the beans simmer for another 15 - 30 minutes. Enjoy!

Note: These beans can also be cooked on the stovetop or in the instant pot but on these hot summer days I prefer to cook them in my crockpot.

I like to serve these beans as side with dinner or sometimes I serve these as the main course with a side of cornbread (recipe linked below) and sliced vidalia onions.
