On Wednesday (July 24), CBS News shared police bodycam footage involving New York State Supreme Court Justice Erin Gall, who could be seen on camera threatening to shoot Black teenagers after a fight broke out at a high school graduation party she was attending in New Hartford, N.Y. in 2022. The viral footage was released by the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct this month. The 2022 incident led to Gall's suspension, and a judicial watchdog panel ruled that she should be removed from office for the offensive remarks.

The Chautauqua County Legislature has overwhelmingly rejected a resolution to form a special committee to review the county's Child Protective Services program. The measure to create the panel to look into a shortage of caseworkers, and low pay, was defeated by a 13-3 vote during Wednesday's meeting in Mayville. Second Common Council Meeting of July Will Not Be Rescheduled
Officials in the City of Dunkirk have announced that the second Common Council meeting for the month of July will not be rescheduled. As a result, the next council meeting will take place on Monday, August 5th. That meeting was originally slated for Tuesday, August 6th, but was moved to the previous day so that everyone would be free to participate in the city's National Night Out event. The meeting originally scheduled for July 16th was cancelled due to a lack of quorum.
Georgian Bay Giants Claim Dunkirk Fastpitch Softball Title
The Georgian Bay Giants emerged as the champions of the City of Dunkirk's 49th Annual First Ward Falcon Club Tournament that was held July 19-21. The Giants defeated the Niagara Snappers 3-1 in the title game, ending the tournament with a perfect 6-0 record while allowing just three runs. Andres Gonzo was the winning pitcher in the title game, while Aiden Yarde's 7-for-10 performance with three home runs on the second day of the tournament helped him win round robin MVP honors. Third place went to Dunkirk Fastpitch and Weavers of Rochester. Dunkirk Lakeside also made playoffs on the final day.
