Davenport resident earns national Corps of Engineers award
DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - Mark Cornish of Davenport has been selected as the recipient for the 2023 Civil Works Planning Excellence Award. According to a media release, Cornish was selected by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Headquarters in Washington, D.C., for the award for his work on the Lock and Dam 22 Fish Passage project.

KNOX Co., Ill. (KWQC) - The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the publics’ help in locating a missing adult. Shannon L. Edwards, 39, of Galesburg has been reported missing, according to a media release from the sheriff’s office. Edwards was last seen near the Public Safety Building in Galesburg on July 1. She was last seen wearing green sweatpants and a red t-shirt with a “Mario” label on it.

Red Cross helping Scott Co. residents needing shelter
Scott County residents who have been displaced due to flooding and/or last night’s storm have resources for finding a place to stay. A news release from Scott County Emergency Management says anyone in Scott County who needs shelter should call the American Red Cross directly at 1-800-Red-Cross (1-800-733-2767).
Kewanee/Wethersfield Townships Declared Local State of Emergency
The Henry County Office of Emergency Management has declared a local state of emergency for Kewanee and Wethersfield Townships. Residents in these areas who are uninsured or underinsured and do not have the physical ability to clear downed trees from their property, may request assistance from the Henry County Office of Emergency Management. The Henry County OEM has partnered with local non-profit to provide tree cutting services for qualifying residents. “This is an offer for physical assistance, and not a financial benefit.”
The City of Galesburg deals with aftermath of Monday’s storm
GALESBURG, Ill. (KWQC) - The City of Galesburg is recovering after storms ripped through the area Monday evening. The city says multiple tree limbs and power lines were brought down because of storm. Crews are working to clear limbs and storm debris from roadways. In areas where power lines are involved, the city must wait for Ameren to assess and repair damage before clearing debris.
