All good things must come to an end. And so it is for Sherwood Gazette.

This August edition of Sherwood Gazette is our last, and we will stop updating our website sherwoodgazette.com on Aug. 15. We understand that this may be a disappointment, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this will cause. It has been a very difficult decision. Like many local businesses, we’ve been squeezed by competing business pressures — from social media and the internet to rising paper prices and the cost of just about everything else.

But we are not giving up on Sherwood, and we hope you aren’t giving up on us. Sherwood Gazette will combine with our weekly newspaper The Times, which also covers Sherwood, as well as Tigard, Tualatin and Beaverton. Readers who subscribed to the Sherwood Gazette will receive The Times in their mailboxes starting Aug. 15.

The Times includes some new features that we hope you will appreciate, including:

Our digital newspaper, which is available on demand using your desktop computer, tablet or smartphone.

Unlimited access to our valleytimes.news website, which is updated daily with local news from Tigard, Tualatin, Beaverton, Washington County and Sherwood.

The Business Tribune, our weekly business section serving the tri-county area, plus unlimited access to the biztrib.com website.

Play, our weekly streaming and television guide.

Email newsletters delivering top local stories to your inbox daily.

Puzzles, contests, promotions and special interest publications.

We hope that you will continue to support us in our mission to provide quality, local news to Sherwood in this new, weekly format. The Times will provide more timely coverage of local news, features and sports with its weekly printed newspaper, daily website updates, email newsletters and special publications. You’ll still find many of your favorite local features and columnists in The Times or on the website starting this month.

Local news is critical to creating informed and engaged communities. Who else will tell important stories about the people who live and work in Sherwood? Who else will cover local high school sports or school board meetings? Who else will shine a light on government so that citizens like you have the information you need to make important decisions for family and business? Simply put, the best way to support us is to subscribe. And if you own or manage a business, partner with us by advertising and let us connect you with readers who want to support local business and their local economy.

Readers who received free copies of Sherwood Gazette can subscribe to The Times for as little as 17 cents a day. To see our subscription specials, visit valleytimes.news/subscribe or scan the QR code on the front page of this newspaper with your smartphone.

You can also subscribe to our free Sherwood email newsletter, which is delivered weekly to inboxes and includes top local news, features, sports and more. To subscribe to the Sherwood newsletter, or to learn about other free email newsletters on special interest topics like cars, outdoor adventure, the local food scene and Washington County sports, visit valleytimes.news/newsletter.

We truly appreciate your support and understanding during this transition. We thank our subscribers — and all of our readers — for being our good neighbors. We hope you’ll continue to support our efforts to be a valued source of local news in Sherwood, and all of our communities.
