Topeka’s CIVIC brings community together to fight violence
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A group in Topeka hopes to combat the epidemic of violence that challenges our community. CIVIC, or the Community Inspired Violence Intervention Coalition, is a community-based collective, addressing the systems causing homicides and gun violence in Shawnee County. This team of organizations and community members formed after a record-breaking year of violence in 2023.

A new bus app will be used this school year after the University of Kansas announced last December that My Bus Lawrence would no longer be used. Former Seward Star Looks to Rebuild LHS Volleyball
Jelena Cohadarevic prided herself on being a complete volleyball player at Seward. She is the all time leader in kills with 1,380 and is sixth in digs with 1,004. Jelena is the only player if Seward history to register over 1,000 kills and 1,000 kills. Now she is entering her first year coaching players at Liberal High School to become more complete players. Redskin volleyball is in need of a re-boot after going 9-22 last year.
