In a tragic incident, 18-year-old Aniyah Harris of Fulton County, Georgia, was shot and killed at a gas station just hours after achieving a significant milestone—passing the U.S. Army entrance exam.

The recent high school graduate was with two friends at a Shell gas station on Old National Highway and Jonesboro Road when a shootout erupted, tragically cutting her life short.

According to authorities, Harris and her friends were at the gas station when the driver of their car became the target of two gunmen.

The altercation quickly escalated into a gunfight, and Harris, an innocent bystander, was fatally caught in the crossfire.

Harris’ mother, Amidah Hood, is devastated by the sudden and senseless loss of her daughter. Reflecting on the heartbreaking turn of events, Hood shared how Harris had just celebrated passing the Army entrance exam earlier that day—a momentous achievement that marked the beginning of her dreams for the future.

“All this senseless killing and leaving so unexpectedly, she didn’t even have a chance to do anything in life,” Hood told WSBTV.

She described her daughter as a vibrant, social young woman with big dreams. Harris was known for her friendly nature, making connections wherever she went.

Hood expressed her deep sorrow and longing for her daughter, stating:

“Right now, I just miss her and I want her to know that I love her and I’d do anything for her. You never wake up and think that this will be your story.”

As Hood grapples with the unimaginable pain of losing her daughter, she holds on to the memories of Harris to find the strength to continue.

“She was beautiful and she was robbed, and it’s not fair,” Hood said, mourning the future her daughter will never have.
