Three Generations of Black Women Lead ‘Chicago Integrated Health’, A New Wellness Center in Matteson

Chicago Integrated Health, the latest Black-owned wellness center and medical practice in Matteson, Illinois, is breaking new ground under the leadership of three generations of Black women.

Founder and CEO Iris Patterson, 43, is joined by her mother, 60-year-old Lauren White, and her daughter, 26-year-old Teylor Johnson, in managing the innovative facility located just 20 minutes from Chicago.

Iris Patterson, a Certified Holistic Nutritionist, spearheads the center alongside her mother, Lauren, a Licensed Psychotherapist, and her daughter, Teylor, who recently graduated from DePaul University and is on track to become a licensed psychologist. Together, they offer an integrated approach to health that combines nutrition, mental health therapy, massage therapy, and fitness, targeting issues like anxiety, depression, and lifestyle diseases.

Patterson’s personal history deeply influences the center’s mission. Growing up on welfare, she is particularly committed to serving disadvantaged families, ensuring that Chicago Integrated Health accepts both Medicaid and Medicare.

The center’s dedicated team includes 18 staff members, featuring mental health practitioners, a nurse practitioner, a supervising medical doctor, personal trainers, and massage therapists.

“We are remarkable women running this company,” Patterson in a press statement. “My mom was 16 and pregnant when she gave birth to me, and I too was only 16 when I gave birth to my daughter. We were young moms, but this did not stop us from becoming successful and giving back to our community.”

Iris Nichole Patterson is not just a successful entrepreneur; she is a stage 4 Colon Cancer survivor and a Certified Holistic Nutritionist and Health and Wellness Coach, certified by the American Fitness Professionals Association (AFPA).
