Fantasia’s Daughter, Zion, Proudly Celebrates 60 Days of Sobriety

Fantasia Barrino’s daughter, Zion, is celebrating a significant personal victory – 60 days of sobriety. The young star, who has openly shared her struggles with addiction in the past, is taking an important step forward on her journey to recovery.

Fantasia Barrino was only 17 when she decided to raise her daughter Zion as a single mother.

Zion is the result of Fantasia’s relationship with her high school sweetheart, Brandel Shouse. He and the “American Idol” winner separated shortly after giving birth to their daughter.

Barrino accused Shouse of abuse, indicating that their relationship was not healthy. He eventually confessed to beating and choking her.

Fantasia relied on her parents to help her raise Zion as a single mother after Brandel left her. It helped that her mother, Diane, had a similar past. She, too, gave birth to the singer at 17.

Barrino and Zion’s lives improved after her victory but still had ups and downs.

Although she has led a more private life than her famous mother, Zion’s decision to share her sobriety journey has received widespread praise.

In her heartfelt post, Zion thanked everyone for their love and encouragement along the way.

“Today, I celebrate one of the hardest challenges in my life,” she wrote. I was sick for three weeks, but I pressed through with the grace of God. I met some amazing people on this new journey and gained a community, love, and unbearable support from my family.”

Zion added, “Happy 60 days today to me. If you’re struggling, I’m here to help you and talk about my journey.”
