Olympic gold medallist Simone Biles has shared a heartfelt post thanking her adoptive parents just one day after her biological mother made a public plea for forgiveness.

Simone Biles has always credited her parents, Ronald and Nellie Biles, with much of her success. They adopted her and her younger sister, Adria, when their mother abandoned them.

In an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com on Tuesday, Shanon Biles confessed that drug addiction led her to abandon her children.

Shanon first lost her children to foster care and then to adoption, with her father and Nellie taking in Simone and Adria and her two eldest children, Tevin, now 29, and Ashley, now 34, being cared for by Ronald’s sister.

In the Franklin County Municipal Court records, Shanon has appeared in court 36 times for traffic misdemeanors and criminal cases. In January 2020, she was found guilty of assault and sentenced to 180 days suspended in prison and probation until January 2022.

Shanon Biles has managed to stay out of trouble in recent years, and she now works as a cashier at the discount grocery store Save A Lot.

The 52-year-old said she has her daughter’s phone number but never calls it, hoping Simone Biles herself will one day reach out.

While Simone has not publicly responded to her biological mother’s plea, her recent post celebrating her adoptive parents speaks volumes.

On Wednesday, however, the history-making gymnast revealed how her grandparents, who adopted her when she was six years old, had bought her a gift following her gold medal at the Olympics in Paris.

“My parents bought me my Hermes bag,” the US star wrote on Threads alongside a love-heart emoji. “Don’t be mad at me; be mad at your parents.”

Simone Biles won three more gold medals and a silver at this summer’s Games in Paris, cementing her status as gymnastics’ biggest star.

Whether or not she decides to reconnect with her biological mother, it’s clear that her bond with Ron and Nellie Biles remains unbreakable.
