Simone Biles’ estranged half-sister has defended her mother amid mounting criticism of the family’s turbulent relationship . In a recent statement , the sister insisted that their mother is not a “bad person” and that the public’s perception of her is incorrect.

The statement follows a series of public revelations about the Biles family , including Simone’s own experiences with abuse and neglect . And her mother’s recent admission of guilt and confession .

In an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com, Shanon Biles confessed that drug addiction led her to abandon her children.

Shanon first lost her children to foster care and then to adoption, with her father and Nellie taking in Simone and Adria and her two eldest children, Tevin, now 29, and Ashley, now 34, being cared for by Ronald’s sister.

In the Franklin County Municipal Court records, Shanon has appeared in court 36 times for traffic misdemeanors and criminal cases. In January 2020, she was found guilty of assault and sentenced to 180 days suspended in prison and probation until January 2022.

While Simone has yet to respond to her mother’s pleas for a reconciliation , her sister (with a different father ) has now spoken up to provide a different perspective .

Micah believes Simone’s fans should have more empathy for their mother, who struggled with addiction for most of her life .

“I want to come to this internet and defend my mom ,” Micah begins her TikTok . “Because she might not be everything we expected her to be, but at the end of the day, she’s still a work in progress , and we give her that.”

“Simone chose not to have a relationship with my mother, and that’s fine ; that was her decision ,” she continued, noting that she, too, did not develop a relationship with their mother until the age of 17 due to her addiction. But she believes that this is nothing her mother should be shamed for.

“I’m not going to let y’all get on this internet and bash my mom or say anything bad or anything of that sort because she’s not a bad person. She’s done nothing to Simone. Life happened to her.”

Shanon Biles expressed a desire to reconnect with her superstar daughter , saying she has the 27-year-old’s phone number but will not use it because she wants Simone to contact her, if that is what she truly wants.
