Lauren London Recalls How She Hooked Nipsey Hussle: “He Took The Bait”

Lauren London shared the sweet and fateful story of how she first met the late rapper and activist Nipsey Hussle. The actress revealed that their love story began in the most unexpected way—over a mixtape.

Lauren London and Nipsey Hussle’s relationship was always in the spotlight, but they maintained privacy and mutual respect throughout their time together.

One of the most touching things about their relationship was their unwavering support for one another’s careers. Nipsey Hussle frequently praised Lauren’s work in interviews, and she returned the favor by promoting his songs and enterprises on her social media platforms.

According to London, she first became aware of Nipsey Hussle when he released his acclaimed mixtape, Crenshaw.

London, known for her roles in ATL and The Game, was on set when she first heard Nipsey’s Crenshaw mixtape, which had captivated the entire glam team. She was immediately drawn to the music and wanted to give the mixtape as a gift to her friends. “All the ladies on set, like the glam, were listening to it,” London recalled. “I was like, it would be really cool if I got him and his mixtape, you know, the Crenshaw stuff.”

Eager to get her hands on Crenshaw merchandise, London approached a mutual friend named Danny to see if she could get a discount by connecting with Nipsey. However, Nipsey did not respond; instead, his manager did. Despite the lack of a discount, London purchased the merchandise in bulk and gave it to her friends as wrap presents.

The real magic happened afterward when London decided to follow Nipsey on social media. Not long after, Nipsey slid into her DMs to personally thank her for her support. “He DM-ed me and said, ‘Hey, thank you for the support; send me your sizes so I can send you a personal box.’ And then he gave me his number.”

London, not one to take things on social media, took the conversation offline. “I texted him because I was like, I am not going to do DMs,” she explained, smiling. “I thought he was fine.” “He was attractive.”

In 2016, they welcomed their first child, Kross Ermias Asghedom, into the world. Nipsey was already a father to a daughter from a previous relationship, Emani, and Lauren had a son named Cameron from her relationship with rapper Lil Wayne.

Nipsey Hussle died at the age of 33 after being shot outside of his Marathon Clothing store.
