‘I Was Actually Scared’: Eve Gets Emotional Discussing Her Journey To Motherhood

Rapper Eve has shared a candid and emotional account of her experience as a new mother . In a recent interview , the “Tambourine” hitmaker revealed that she had initial fears about bonding with her son .

In September, while on tour to promote her new memoir , “Who’s That Girl ?”, Eve disclosed she had an ectopic pregnancy while filming her Eve television series in 2006.

“You question yourself, your body , the universe, God , so many things,” she said to PEOPLE . “I told my husband (about the miscarriage ) when we got close, but never spoke about it in public , not even (while I was hosting ) The Talk.”

In a recent interview on the Breakfast Club , the Grammy-winning rapper opened up about another deeply personal struggle she faced: the fear of not bonding with her baby .

“I was actually scared I wouldn’t connect,” Eve confessed. “I swear to God. My sister-in-law told me that, too. She has three kids , and she was like , ‘Don’t feel weird because some women sometimes just don’t connect immediately.'”

This was a huge concern for the 45-year-old star , who has always been candid about her unconventional upbringing and how it shaped her view on parenting .

Eve, who welcomed her first child , a baby boy named Wilde Wolf, with husband Maximillion Cooper last year, explained how her fear of not connecting with her son was linked to her past .

“I just thought that possibly, because of the way I grew up, maybe I won’t be [able to connect],” she said, tearing up as she reflected on her childhood and the pressures she felt entering motherhood . “That makes me emotional because it’s a freedom .”

The rapper also admitted that her son, whom she shares with her husband Maximillion Cooper, is already a spoiled little boy. “He’s going to get away with a lot of sh*t,” she joked.

Although the Love is Blind rapper’s journey to motherhood was not easy, she eventually gave birth to her rainbow baby. In 2022 , the TV host gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Wilde Wolf Fife Alexander Somers Cooper.
