Angel Reese Joins DC Power FC as Investor Alongside Two Black Women Powerhouses

Angel Reese, star basketball player and rising business mogul, has become an investor in the newly formed DC Power Football Club.

Joining her are two powerhouse Black women, Janice Adams and Crystal Renee Hayslett, along with other notable business leaders.

This marks a major move for Reese, who is already making strategic investments in her rookie year with the WNBA’s Chicago Sky.

Reese, a Maryland native, says she is excited to support the growth of women’s sports.

“I want to help grow women’s sports and elevate female athletes across the board,” Reese said in a statement. “We’re taking over, and I’m honored to be able to support Power FC and invest in women’s soccer in the DMV community.”

DC Power FC, a professional women’s soccer team based in Washington, D.C., is part of a broader push to provide more opportunities for female athletes.

Jason Levien, CEO of D.C. United, praised Reese’s involvement, calling her a “groundbreaking” addition to the ownership group.

“Angel is passionate about being a catalyst for positive change in women’s sports in the DMV and globally,” said Levien.

Janice Adams, another key investor, is a DMV business leader and former U.S. Air Force chief master sergeant.

Adams has been deeply involved in local philanthropy through her company, JMA Solutions, LLC. She expressed her excitement about the project, stating:

“In 2024, women have access to fewer than half of the professional playing opportunities available to men in this country. This project marks a new pathway for female athletes and women’s sports enthusiasts in the area.”

Crystal Renee Hayslett

Joining Reese and Adams is actress and producer Crystal Renee Hayslett, known for her role in BET’s Sistas.

Hayslett’s diverse background in entertainment is expected to energize the fan base.

“It’s energizing to be part of such a dynamic ownership group advancing women’s sports and celebrating DC’s deeply vibrant culture.”

Other notable investors include MLB Nationals pitcher Josiah Gray, NHL Capitals center Hendrix Lapierre, and local business leaders Devin Talbott and Jordan Stuart.

Reese’s investment, along with the backing of Adams and Hayslett, is a major step toward elevating women’s soccer and creating more opportunities for female athletes.
