SHINNSTON, W.Va. (WBOY) — The Shinnston Development Authority (SDA) met Wednesday evening where it discussed adding a new member as well as potential upcoming projects and the revision of its strategic plan.

During the discussion regarding adding a new member, the SDA encouraged anyone interested to attend its meetings. Members also discussed several downtown projects and ideas for future development projects.

“We want to get some signage for our bike trail that we have to point people in the right direction. We want to start a Shinnston business organization to get them familiar with what is available to them. We want to offer business counseling for some of the businesses. We want to create some events in downtown Shinnston and utilize our green space,” SDA President James Coulter said.

The SDA is looking into updating the strategic plan because some of the projects listed in the plan have been completed and it wishes to update that plan. “We want to be able to add crosswalks through downtown. We want to be able to promote downtown shopping, downtown walking, and different things like that,” Coulter said.

SDA members said they want the businesses in the community to know that they exist in case they have any questions or concerns that they could help with. The SDA works with Shinnston City Council, Harrison County Development Corporation, and others to be able to help the business community as much as possible.
