SALT LAKE CITY – U.S. swimmer Gretchen Walsh minors in math at the University of Virginia and her love for numbers finds its way into competition. A lot of athletes struggle with the mental side of their sport. Walsh has cracked the code by using math to stay locked in on the task at hand.
VHSL holding two-day meetings going into the school year with public invited to Day 1
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Virginia High School League staff will conduct two-day area meetings throughout the state beginning July 22 and continuing until August 28 to review all aspects of the League’s athletic and non-athletic programs before the school year begins. The VHSL is extending an exclusive invitation to the public to attend the Day 1 meeting in their area, allowing attendees to ask questions, provide input, or share any concerns they might want to share with the VHSL staff. Executive Director Billy Haun, Assistant Director for Compliance Ty Gafford, and other VHSL Assistant Directors will lead the meetings. The public is invited to interact one-on-one with VHSL staff.

VCU Health mobile cancer screening at three locations reduces travel burden for patients
A new 50-foot trailer will travel between three VCU Health locations to provide state-of-the-art, rapid scans for patients waiting for cancer screenings. By scanning the whole body in under 17 minutes, about half the time of a traditional scan, the mobile, digital PET/CT scanner makes it easier and quicker for patients to get screened and be put on a treatment plan.
