Now in its fourth year, the young Jesse Ray Sheps is maturing and attending Yale University, but he still devotes himself to the Fire Island Film Festival. Some are saying this is one of the best ones yet. Thoughtful, compelling cinema is still out there and being made, for many more stories are yet to be told. Outlets like this give them an audience.
A ‘family-friendly, casual’ eatery: Myles on Main opens in the Preston House
A new “family-oriented” restaurant is now open across from the Long Island Aquarium in Riverhead. Myles on Main, downtown Riverhead’s newest eatery, opened on June 29 in the Preston House & Hotel on East Main Street. The restaurant is within the restored historic home, which was built in 1905 by local Civil War hero Henry Preston, Suffolk County’s first full-time sheriff. In 2018, the house was renovated and improved with a 20-room boutique hotel by Hyatt Place and aquarium developer Joseph Petrocelli.
Hamptons Fine Art Fair Concludes with Robust Sales and Record-Breaking Attendance
The 2024 Hamptons Fine Art Fair set many new records in the 18-year history of art fairs in the Hamptons, which concluded on Sunday, July 14th in Southampton. This summer's show offered the largest and widest selection of post-war and contemporary art ever displayed with a record-breaking 13,000 art enthusiasts attending the fair over the four days. On display were 150 international exhibitors and gallerists, presenting 600+ respected artists, representing all mediums from sculpture, paintings, prints and photography.
