Jennifer Lopez Wouldn’t Suggest Getting Back With Your Ex After Reuniting With Ben Affleck

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck found their way back to each other after decades of being apart. At the time, Lopez seemed content in her relationship with The Town star. Still, even when their relationship seemed its healthiest, Lopez felt reuniting with an ex wasn’t always the best thing to do.

Even after breaking up and finding different partners to spend their lives with, Affleck and Lopez maintained contact over the years. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter , Affleck revealed that they just supported each other’s careers from afar as friends.

“We don’t have the kind of relationship where she relies on me for advice,” Affleck said. “But we do have the kind of relationship where there’ll be an e-mail saying, ‘Oh, your movie looks great.’ I remember when she got American Idol . I said: ‘This was really smart. Good luck.’ I touch base. I respect her. I like her. She’s put up with some stuff that was unfair in her life, and I’m really pleased to see her successful.”

Their support for each other would eventually help reignite their bond. Affleck reached out to Lopez in 2021 after her relationship with Alex Rodriguez ended. Affleck also found himself single. He was reportedly coming off a brief relationship with fellow actor Ana de Armas back then. Lopez asserted that an e-mail Affleck sent started a chain of events that brought them back together.

“Obviously we weren’t trying to go out in public,” Lopez told Vogue not too long ago. “But I never shied away from the fact that for me, I always felt like there was a real love there, a true love there. People in my life know that he was a very, very special person in my life. When we reconnected, those feelings for me were still very real.”

Lopez and Affleck would seem to experience the happily ever after they were preparing for in the 2000s , eventually getting married. But she knew there were often considerable risks that came with getting back with an ex-lover.

“I don’t know that I recommend this for everybody,” she said. “Sometimes you outgrow each other, or you just grow differently. The two of us, we lost each other and found each other. Not to discredit anything in between that happened, because all those things were real too. All we’ve ever wanted was to kind of come to a place of peace in our lives where we really felt that type of love that you feel when you’re very young and wonder if you can have that again.”

It seems there might’ve still been too many irreconcilable differences between Lopez and Affleck for their reunion to work long term. There have been reports for months that their marriage wasn’t in a good place, and their divorce is only a matter of time. More fuel was added to these rumors when it was reported that Affleck and Lopez were spotted on a few occasions without their wedding rings. Affleck allegedly moving out of his and Lopez’s home, and spending their wedding anniversaries away from each other, didn’t help matters.

Affleck was also recently absent from Lopez’s birthday, with an alleged source explaining his absence to Fox News Digital .

“Ben didn’t come to celebrate Jennifer’s birthday because they are done,” the source said. “Totally done. They are not getting back together.”

The source also claimed that they may be on less good terms than they were when they broke up the first time. The second time around, it seems the two aren’t even speaking to each other.

“They are not communicating right now,” the source said. “If she wants to talk to his kids, she goes straight to the kids. Same with him.”
