The Braxtons are back. The musical family is returning to TV three years after the end of their show Braxton Family Values and two years following the devastating death of Traci Braxton .

The new, eight-episode series offers “a raw and unfiltered look” at the Braxton sisters – Toni, Towanda, Trina, and Tamar – and their mom, Evelyn Braxton , as they navigate careers, health challenges, and complicated personal lives. It premieres August 9 on WE tv.

WE tv has shared a sneak peek at the first 10 minutes of The Braxtons series premiere.

“We’ve dealt with a lot, and so we have a lot to share,” family matriarch Miss E says in the clip. “As a matter of fact, the Braxtons never should have gone away.”

“I’m glad that we’re back. But the other part of it is, I know that we have a missing piece that is never going to be the same without her,” Towanda says of filming the new show without her sister Traci.

Traci died in March 2022 at age 50 following a battle with esophageal cancer .

But even though Traci isn’t present physically in The Braxtons, she’s still very much a force in everyone’s life. “Her spirit and energy will always be here,” Towanda says.

For Toni, coming to terms with Traci’s death has been difficult. She’s used to protecting her family, but in this case, there was nothing she could do to save her sister.

“I felt so helpless. I couldn’t do anything to save her. That’s been really hard for me to digest,” she says.

To make matters worse, Toni has some health news of her own to share. Though her family knows she’s had to have a stent put in her heart, they aren’t aware of the “nitty-gritty” details. And she’s not sure she wants to burden them with more worries so soon after Traci’s death.

“I don’t want to get them riled up,” she says. “I don’t even want to tell them. Maybe I shouldn’t.”

It’s not all bad news in ‘The Braxtons’

While the Braxtons are dealing with a lot, they still find ways to come together and enjoy life.

“With our family, there’s always an opportunity for things to go left,” Trina says with a laugh in a teaser (via YouTube ) for the new season.

Evelyn is ready to jump back into dating, while Trina is ready for grandbabies. She’s horrified when she learns her husband has encouraged their kids to get vasectomies.

Then there’s Toni’s new Las Vegas residency with Cedric the Entertainer.

“I’m telling some jokes,” she reveals in the preview.

Her family is skeptical that the Grammy winner has what it takes to be a comedian.

“They didn’t tell you to stick to singing?” her mom asks.

The Braxtons premieres Friday, August 9 at 9:30 p.m. ET on WE tv. Episodes stream on ALLBLK. Fans can also catch up on past seasons of Braxton Family Values starting August 15 on ALLBLK and AMC+.
