    Gabby Thomas Shines in NYC as She Returns to the U.S. With 3 Gold Medals

    Gabby Thomas played a pivotal role in several 2024 Paris Olympics events, but she revealed that she's ready to get back to normal life.

    Gabby Thomas has swiftly risen to prominence in the world of track and field, establishing herself as one of the premier sprinters of her generation. Now that the 2024 Summer Olympics have concluded, the 27-year-old deserves a much-needed break from the pressure that comes from elite-level competitions. This morning, cameras spotted Thomas outside of CBS studios in New York City.

    Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil, and Nate Burleson interviewed Thomas on CBS Mornings. The trio acknowledged that the track star’s partner, Spencer McManes, was standing offscreen. Thomas and the former Yale University quarterback have been dating since October 2022. Dokoupil asked how the pair will celebrate her return to the U.S. Thomas replied, “We can’t wait to just go back home and get into our normal routine. I want to go walk my dog. I want to go and get my coffee from my local shop and just enjoy my life.”

    Born on December 7, 1996, in Atlanta, Georgia, Thomas showed early promise in athletics. But she truly began to make her mark at Harvard University. While at Harvard, she broke multiple school records and became an NCAA champion in the 200 meters, setting the stage for her professional career.

    One of Thomas’s most significant accomplishments came in 2021 when she ran the 200 meters in 21.61 seconds at the U.S. Olympic Trials. This made her the third-fastest woman in history in that event and earned her a spot on the U.S. Olympic team. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, she went on to win a bronze medal in the 200 meters and a silver medal as part of the 4×100 meter relay team.

    Thomas continued to build on her success. By the time the 2024 Paris Olympics arrived, the seasoned competitor set her eyes on gold. In Paris, Gabby Thomas solidified her status as one of the top sprinters in the world. She competed in both the 100 meters and 200 meters, and her performances were nothing short of stellar.
