Mariska Hargitay Back at Work on ‘Law & Order: SVU’: When Do New Episodes Air?

Mariska Hargitay and her co-star Ice-T were recently spotted filming for the 26th season of 'Law & Order: SVU' in New York City.

Olivia Benson is back on the case. Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay was spotted earlier this month filming for the upcoming season of the NBC drama.

On August 5, photographers caught Hargitay and her co-star Ice-T at work on the show’s 26th season in New York City.

The pair, who play NYPD officers Benson and Fin Tutuola on SVU, were seen smiling and chatting at an outdoor cafe. In another image, Hargitay, wearing dark pants and a light-colored blazer, sprints down the street as pedestrians look at something in the sky.

Also seen on set was cast member Kevin Kane, who plays Detective Terry Bruno. He’s been promoted to series regular for season 26. Juliana Aidén Martinez is also joining the SVU cast next season as a new detective, NBC reports.

Hargitay also shared a photo from her day of filming on Instagram. “Back at it with my #Squad #SVU26,” she captioned the post.

So, when will fans get a chance to find out what heinous crimes Benson and the SVU squad are investigating? Law & Order: SVU Season 26 premieres Thursday, Oct. 3 at 9 p.m. ET.

Hargitay has played Benson since 1999. But even after inhabiting the role for more than a quarter of a century, the actor says she’s not tired of the character or the show.

“I’m obviously not done with SVU and I have so much responsibility there still, which is keeping me artistically challenged. It’s challenging. In the meantime, I also have had these incredible moments,” she told Us Weekly in May 2024. “I’m really happy and fulfilled with my life right now. So, we’ll see what comes. But as of right now, I’m very happy on the ride.”

Ice-T, who joined the cast in season 2, also remains committed to the police procedural.

“We’re very excited about going into season 26. I think last season we caught a whole other wind of fans, and everybody got in it, and the ratings were great,” he told Us Weekly in June 2024. “I don’t see any reason why SVU can’t go 30 [seasons].”

“I think the show will stay on as long as Mariska wants to do the show,” he said. “It’s her show.”

The rapper added that both he and Hargitay are thankful for the loyal fans who’ve supported SVU for more than two decades.

“Both of us are very grateful that the fans love the show and we’re humbled by that,” he said. “I think that’s why we come to work every day ready to keep doing it. Neither one of us are jaded.”
