Royal Author Warns Prince Harry to Stop or Risk Big Ask of William and Charles Later

Prince Harry may someday find himself going to his father and brother with his 'cap in hand,' as a biographer issues warning.

An author has cautioned Prince Harry to slow down his spending as talking about the British royal family will only get him so far. Why? Because someday, his career of discussing his royal relatives will be over. Then, they say, he’ll have to go “cap in hand” to King Charles III and Prince William.

Warning to stop talking about royals, ‘currency’ will run out

Discussing what would happen if Harry and Meghan Markle’s money runs out on the “Palace Confidential” podcast, royal author Robert Jobson shared that the duke’s career of talking about the royal family.

Harry opened up about royal life, most notably in a 2021 Oprah interview and his Spare memoir, as well as Netflix’s Harry & Meghan docuseries. He made claims about not only his father, King Charles III, but also his brother, Prince William, and sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, among others.

“What is going to happen? That is the whole point,” Jobson said (via Express). “The king is fully aware of that. Because at some stage, the currency of talking about your family endlessly, of which he’s made a career for the last few years, is going to become less and less.”

“Because, number one, not many people are really dealing with them anymore. We’ve already said the phone calls aren’t getting through,” he continued. “So what you’ve got to say is less and less relevant.”

“The distance becomes further and further apart, and the closer his brother comes to the throne, he’s the relevant person and so’s his family.”

Harry warned to stop his ‘very expensive lifestyle’

“Spending money on every litigation in the world” coupled with a “very expensive lifestyle” isn’t sustainable for the Sussexes.

“They’ve got security, they’re flying all over the world, they’re doing all sorts of things, [and] they’re doing their own royal tours to Nigeria. Of course, it cannot go on indefinitely,” Jobson said.

What could eventually happen is Harry going to King Charles and William for money. However, according to Jobson, that may not work. “I suppose he’s going to have to go cap in hand to his father or his brother,” he said. “But I’m not sure that they’re necessarily going to be that generous.”

Harry and Meghan’s estimated joint net worth is getting a boost when the former turns 40 on Sept. 15, 2024. He’s set to inherit roughly $9 million from his late great-grandmother.

Resolving Harry’s security could end it

If the security issue is resolved, Harry may not need to turn to his father and brother for money someday. He’s paid for private security since losing his royal protection detail in 2020 and plans to appeal after losing a legal battle to get it reinstated in February 2024.

However, that could be a long way off. Palace insiders, as well as those close to Harry, told People both sides have very different views on the matter. Some close to the palace suggested by releasing Spare and participating in interviews, Harry has lost his family’s trust.

Others close to Harry argued if he had proper security, there’d be no need to speak as a way to help pay for it. If it gets figured out, a friend said, “It’s ‘swords down.’”
