‘Sister Wives’ Robyn Brown Rebranding Herself as Kody Brown’s Victim: Will It Backfire?

    By Lucille Barilla,

Sister Wives Season 19 could be the season in which Robyn Brown rebrands herself as Kody Brown’s victim. Prior to this, she called herself the Brown family scapegoat . However, as Robyn and Kody have no one but themselves to battle, will Robyn employ a new pity tactic to get viewers to feel sorry for her?

Will Robyn Brown’s victim mentality finally backfire during season 19?

Robyn Brown has historically painted herself as a victim throughout 18 seasons of Sister Wives . The TLC series, which once focused on a polygamist headed by Kody Brown and supported by Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn Brown, is a shell of what it once was.

Today, Robyn and Kody Brown live in monogamy. Meri and Janelle have declared their spiritual marriages to Kody over. Christine has been married to David Wooley for almost a year.

Therefore, with no one to play off of, Robyn will likely turn to Kody to emphasize her role as a victim in their marriage. This tactic appeared evident in a trailer for season 19, which dropped in August 2024.

In the clip, Robyn and Kody are filmed outside their Flagstaff, Arizona, home (because they rarely, if ever, film inside), and she shares her feelings. Robyn tells Kody, “I’m having a hard time. I’m losing respect for you,” he responds, “Robyn, I can’t even get it straight with you now.”

Robyn paints herself as a victim in a confessional, finally realizing that she is the only wife left standing in the polygamist clan she claimed she desperately wanted to be part of.

In the official TLC trailer for season 19, Robyn confesses, “This is not the way it was supposed to go. I feel like the idiot who got left behind.”

‘Sister Wives’ fans agree Robyn Brown will leave Kody Brown to ‘save face’

In a Reddit post, Sister Wives fans weighed in on whether or not Robyn Brown will leave Kody Brown . She no longer has disposable income as Kody’s his ex-wive’s TLC paychecks are no longer deposited into the family pool. Robyn also has no one to blame for how her life has evolved, as the other women have moved on, and she remains tied to life with Kody in Flagstaff, Arizona.

One viewer writes, “She keeps trying to do this ‘poor me’ thing so everyone will feel sorry for he. Because she didn’t know what she was getting into. She’s going to end up leaving Kody in order to, again, play the victim. She’ll try to rebrand herself without Kody because, let’s face it, she’s a self-absorbed woman with nothing to offer but s****y acting.”

“She portrayed her first marriage to be loveless. But I suspect it wasn’t as bad as she made it out to seem considering she had three kids with the guy. Her youngest was pretty young when she left,” a second penned. “I think she will do the same with her marriage with Kody. She will say he was angry and cold and changed so much. And he’s given the viewers plenty of things to support any negative claims she has about him.”

A third Redditor wrote, “My issue with Robyn is we can’t trust what she says. She felt free to say she wanted a plural marriage while doing everything she could to take the legal marriage away from the first wife, keep her kids separate from the others, and find innovative ways to keep her weak husband in her home. Her actions rarely align with her statements.”

What can fans expect during season 19 of ‘Sister Wives’?

‘Sister Wives’ Season 19’s Red Flags Tease Show’s End

An official TLC description of the series teases that the show might be moving forward into more present-day than in seasons past. It begins, “Janelle, Christine, and Robyn continue to share a genuine glimpse into the complexities of their relationships, moving forward as best as they can for themselves and one another.”

The description continues, “This season, the family faces the devastating passing of Janelle and Kody’s son, Garrison Brown. Through the heartbreaking pain, the family navigates this incredible tragedy and comes together to mourn and celebrate his life.”

Finally, the release teases that Meri will appeal to their former church, the AUB, for an official release from their marriage. Janelle will move to North Carolina to be closer to daughter Maddie and her grandchildren. Christine and David have set up a home in Utah, where they married in 2023.

But Robyn and Kody won’t appear to be happy on the horizon. The teaser writes that they will “face challenges together as a monogamous couple and how to adapt to a lifestyle they never planned on living.” Sister Wives returns to TLC for its newest season beginning Sunday, Sept. 15 at 10 p.m. ET.
