Lopez filed for divorce on Aug. 20, 2024, and she noted that their date of separation was in April 2024. Before Lopez and Affleck dated for the first time in the early 2000s, Affleck dated Gwyneth Paltrow. Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Affleck have a romantic history. The exes dated on and off for three years, from 1997 to 2000. More recently, Paltrow opened up about her past with Affleck. On the Call Her Daddy podcast in 2023, she noted that Affleck was a “technically excellent” sexual lover.

Now that Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are on their way to divorcing, a source told In Touch Weekly that Paltrow is taking Affleck’s side. “There’s no denying her loyalty lies completely with Ben,” the insider said.

“Gwyneth has always been polite towards J.Lo, but everyone knows that deep down she’s never been a huge fan of the relationship, even though she did recently offer to help them consciously uncouple,” the insider noted, referring to Paltrow’s split from Chris Martin in 2014.

The source added that Paltrow is still “deeply fond” of Affleck and thinks Lopez “acts like a diva” in the Hamptons. Lopez’s behavior “opened” Paltrow’s eyes “to the fact that she really was all about herself all along.”

“Part of Gwyneth’s beef is down to territorialism because she’s always considered that her turf, but there’s also a general annoyance with J.Lo,” the insider said.

Gwyneth Paltrow looks back fondly at her relationship with Ben Affleck. The actors met at a party hosted by Harvey Weinstein. In 2018, she talked to Howard Stern about their relationship and why she never married him. She described her relationship with Affleck as a “lesson.”

“It’s interesting,” Paltrow started, according to People. “I think there are certain boyfriends where you are trying to work stuff out, right? Like, you’re trying to heal certain stuff from your childhood, and he was very much a lesson in that way. I’m not sure exactly what I was trying to heal in that instance, but it was … he was, you know, it was specific.”

In another interview with Stern, Paltrow admitted that her parents disapproved of Affleck. “He’s super intelligent and really, really talented, and he’s funny,” she said, according to People. “But he wasn’t in a good place in his life to have a girlfriend.”

Ben Affleck allegedly didn’t show ‘interest’ in fixing his marital issues with Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck fans should give up hope of the couple working through their marital issues. A source told People in August 2024 that Affleck didn’t show “any commitment and interest” in fixing their problems and staying married.

Lopez allegedly feels “very disappointed and sad, but Ben hasn’t given her any signs that he wants to continue their marriage,” the insider said. “He hasn’t shown any commitment and interest in making their marriage work. It’s gotten to the point that she just needs to look out for herself.”

Another insider close to Lopez said she “tried really hard to make things work” and feels “heartbroken” over the loss.
