Classic TLC Shows Fans Wish Would Return

TLC viewers would love to see the return of shows like 'The Little Couple' and 'Trading Spaces.'

TLC is digging into its archive. This summer, the reality-focused network has been revisiting some of its classic shows on Thursday nights, hitting play on forgotten favorites like Breaking Amish, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, and My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding.

On Instagram, fans chimed in on what other shows they’d like to see return to TLC. It turns out that viewers are missing shows focused on weddings, fashion, and design, as well as those featuring stars such as Jon and Kate Gosselin.

‘Four Weddings’

From the dress to the flowers to the choice of venue, everything about a person’s big day was subject to judgment on Four Weddings. In the competition-focused series, four brides attended each other’s weddings, scoring the celebration in various categories. The bride whose wedding received the highest score won a honeymoon.

The show, which was based on a British series of the same name, aired for 10 seasons. Later seasons introduced a new twist: The brides were all friends before filming. Some people would like to see the show return.

“Please bring back new seasons of Four Weddings,” one person commented.

‘Trading Spaces’

Neighbors swap houses, agreeing to let the other transform one room in their home with the help of design professionals. What could go wrong? A lot. Who can forget the beach-themed room, complete with sand on the floor? Or the prison-themed bedroom?

“Trading Spaces had a hold on me when I was a kid,” one person recalled.

Trading Spaces aired on TLC for eight years, between 2000 and 2008. In 2018, the network rebooted the show, with several original designers returning. New episodes last aired in 2019. Unfortunately for fans, the show is not currently available to stream.

‘What Not to Wear’

Fashion victims desperately needing a wardrobe refresh got help from style mavens Clinton Kelly and Stacy London in What Not to Wear. The show aired from 2003 to 2013 on TLC.

“I loved watching What Not to Wear!!” a fan commented on Instagram.

Fans of the makeover series got some good news in 2019 when TLC announced it was working on a revival of the show, Variety reported. That reboot never materialized. But London and Kelly recently announced that they were reuniting for a new Prime Video show, Where Whatever The F You Want.

‘Jon & Kate Plus Eight’

Unusual families have ruled over TLC for years, including the Browns, the Busbys, and the Plaths. But we probably wouldn’t know any of them if it weren’t for Jon and Kate Gosselin. The Pennsylvania couple were parents to eight kids, including a set of sextuplets. Their show, Jon & Kate Plus Eight, premiered in 2007. After Jon and Kate split up, TLC renamed the show to Kate Plus Eight, which continued to air through 2017. Kate briefly returned to TLC in 2019 in a dating show called Kate Plus Date.

While some fans on Instagram expressed a wish to see more of Jon and Kate and their kids, others pointed out that the Gosselins were unlikely to return to TV given the family’s complicated dynamics.

‘The Little Couple’

Several TLC fans gave a shout-out to The Little Couple, which followed Bill Klein and Dr. Jennifer Arnold and their family. The show aired from 2009 to 2019, and several people on social media mentioned that they’d love to see some updates on the family. Unfortunately, according to The Hollywood Reporter, a legal battle between Klein and Arnold, the show’s producer, and Discovery Communications led to the end of The Little Couple.
