It’s no secret that the royal family has plenty of money. With a cumulative net worth around $88 billion , they certainly aren’t strapped for cash. And when it comes to appearances, the royals are keen to spend just about any amount it takes to ensure they remain in top shape at all times, including massive wardrobe budgets, plenty on hair and makeup for events — and even daily skin routines that cost a fortune.

Apparently, Kate Middleton is no exception when it comes to big spending. The Princess of Wales reportedly uses a face moisturizer that contains real gold and costs a whopping $850.

Kate Middleton’s go-to moisturizer has a hefty price tag

The royal family’s daily routines aren’t widely publicized, but we can’t say we’re surprised that Kate allegedly spends $850 on a daily face cream. According to Express , the princess uses the Bee Venom and Placenta 24 Carat Gold Ultimate Crème from Rodial, which retails for a staggering $850. According to the brand’s website , the cream contains “bee venom, vitamin C, and placenta protein,” which all work together to offer anti-aging properties. The site was having a massive sale on the cream in early September, where it was listed for just $105. If you’ve ever wanted to try Kate’s moisturizer, now is the time.

The cream also contains gold. Specifically, “Nano Peptide encased in 24 Carat gold” per the website, which is also meant to offer anti-aging properties.

As a heads up, that $850 price tag is for just 1.7 ounces of the cream, which is likely around a 30-day supply. According to the website’s reviews, people seem to love the product — so perhaps it’s worth the price?

The royals are known to spend a lot of money on fashion, too

Skincare isn’t the only thing that has the royals throwing money around. They also spend a ton of money on clothes and travel. Page Six reports that the Princess of Wales spent a whopping $120,000 on new clothes in 2022, but she did manage to cut that spending by nearly $50,000 for 2023. Of course, that’s still more than most people make in a year, but the princess has been known to re-wear outfits for various occasions and has kept some pieces in her closet for more than a decade.

Ultimately, we’ll never be able to dress like Kate, but she does prefer a handful of budget-friendly brands, including Zara. While you might not be able to fully recreate her skincare routine and fashion sense, she occasionally does show off more affordable ways to be like her.
