For the past decade, Welliver has brought LAPD detective turned PI Harry Bosch to life on screen. He starred in seven seasons of Bosch on Prime Video starting in 2014 and has continued to portray the character in the spinoff series Bosch: Legacy , which premiered in 2022.

For Welliver, playing the prickly but principled detective was the role of a lifetime.

“Ten years ago, I had the incredible good fortune to be cast as Harry Bosch on the series Bosch ,” Welliver wrote in a message shared on his Instagram . “For 10 years, I have had the tremendous privilege to work alongside the most amazing writers, producers, and cast of actors, all driven by the most hardworking and incredible crew. We have become a family, and I’m eternally grateful for every person involved in the tremendous effort it took to make the most substantive show out there.”

Welliver went on to thank author Michael Connelly, who created the Bosch character , for his “marvelous books.”

“I could write a book (and maybe I will) on the years of joy I have experienced walking in Harry’s shoes,” he added. “I will simply say thank you to all of you for making this the most rewarding and beautiful experience of my career.”

In a message on X , Welliver also gave a shout-out to loyal Bosch fans for their “incredible support, dedication, and kindness.”

Madison Lintz shares message to her ‘Bosch: Legacy’ character

Welliver wasn’t the only Bosch: Legacy cast member reflecting on the show’s end. Madison Lintz, who plays Harry’s daughter Maddie Bosch, posted a note to her character on X .

“Would you look at us now, look at how far we have come,” she wrote, reflecting on Maddie’s journey from young teen in Bosch ’s early seasons to rookie LAPD cop in Bosch: Legacy . “And we did it together, we grew up together. I am the person I am because I had the honor of playing you for 10 beautiful years. It’s been a crazy ride. I hope I did you justice.”

Meanwhile, Connelly gave credit to Welliver for embodying the character he created in his novels.

“[I]t takes at least a whole town to make a show like this,” he wrote in a message on his website . “We’ve had the best people up and down the call sheet. Actors, writers, directors, producers, and all the crew tried to make something special, and they certainly did. I’m very proud of what we did.

“None of this would have happened without the first name on the call sheet: Titus Welliver,” he added. “He became the full embodiment of Harry Bosch and that was the magic that fueled 10 seasons. As the guy who writes the books, I can’t tell you how lucky I got when he signed on.”

Will Titus Welliver return as Harry Bosch in new Renée Ballard show?

Although Bosch: Legacy is coming to an end, Connelly hinted that Welliver might not be done playing the character. Amazon is developing a new show based on his Renée Ballard series of novels, and it sounds like Bosch might make an appearance.

“If you know anything about my books, then you know you have not seen the last of Harry Bosch!” he wrote.

Some fans are also hoping that Amazon will reconsider the decision to end Bosch: Legacy . They’ve started a “Save Bosch: Legacy petition” at Change.org . Welliver appears to be on board with the campaign and has retweeted calls the save the show.
