How Long Has Dave Grohl Been Married to His Wife, Jordyn Blum?

This week, Dave Grohl announced that he had a child outside of his marriage to his wife, Jordyn Blum. The news comes as a blow to Grohl’s lengthy marriage. Here’s how Grohl met Blum and how long the couple have been married.

In 2001, Grohl was at a bar with his bandmate, Taylor Hawkins , when Blum approached the table. He didn’t think he had any chance of impressing her.

“I met Jordyn one night in 2001. Taylor and I were hanging out at the Sunset Marquis whiskey bar. Taylor was the looker. I mean, girls would send him drinks,” Grohl told Q Magazine (per Foo Archive ). “Some bombshell comes up and starts talking to Taylor. I was just out of a Tenacious D session . I’ve got Vans trainers on, no socks, dirty shorts and a dirty T-shirt, surrounded by beautiful Hollywood. She waved her friend Jordyn over. I was like, ‘Oh my God. Not a chance!’ So I’m just having some drinks and acting like a jacka**.”

Still, she gave him her number, and they went on a few dates. Grohl said he didn’t want a serious relationship at the time, so he pulled away. After a few months, though, he reached back out.

Grohl and Blum tied the knot at their Los Angeles home in 2003. Grohl said he wanted the ceremony to be a party, but not a big celebrity blowout.

“It’s not a Vegas thing, man,” he told NME (per Foo Archive ), adding, “It’s not the Elvis chapel here at the Grohl residence. It’s definitely a party. And you only do it once…or twice. There’s not a massive celebrity guestlist or anything, just a bunch of my friends from Virginia, relatives from Ohio and Louisiana, my fiancee’s family from California and Baltimore. I think Jack [Black] is probably going to come, and maybe Kyle [Gass] might show up. Krist Novoselic is representing. The ushers are my buddies Jimmy, Richie, and Mike from Virginia, people I’ve known since I was five years old, and then Taylor.”

In their 21 years of marriage, Grohl and Blum have welcomed three children . Their eldest daughter, Violet, was born in 2006. They had their second daughter, Harper, in 2009, and their third, Ophelia, in 2014.

“My kids inspire me and it’s that love, that then when I go on the road, it makes me want to play music even more,” he told Today in 2021.

“I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage,” he wrote in a statement. “I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.”

At this point, neither Grohl nor Blum has commented further on the matter.
