Dave Grohl and his wife, Jordyn Blum, have three kids: Violet Maye Grohl, 18, Harper Willow Grohl, 15, and Ophelia Saint Grohl, 10. During a 2007 interview with Q Magazine, Dave admitted that parenthood has “changed everything” for him, and he also always wanted to have kids.

“Oh, it’s changed everything,” he explained. “Personally and honestly, it’s something that I’d always imagined happening. I grew up with a tight family. I’m probably one of the few rock musicians that didn’t have a f***ed-up life. I mean, my parents divorced when I was 7 years old, and we grew up with no money. But we got by with very little and we were still the happiest people in the world.”

Dave added that he attended the birth of his daughter, Violet. “I could’ve f***ing delivered the baby myself at that point,” he said. “I’d desensitized myself by watching those stupid TV shows with the graphic birth. But I was nervous.”

The musician added that the birth of his daughter was “sketchy” because her umbilical cord wrapped around her neck, causing her heart rate to drop. “That’s the most frightened I’ve ever been in my life,” he continued. They let you play music while you’re giving birth. We found this CD that was lullaby versions of Beatles songs. The first song was ‘In My Life,’ which we played at Kurt’s memorial. Oh Jeez. I just felt it coming, and I’m like, ‘You can’t break down right now, man. I’ve got to keep it together for my wife.'”

In 2021, Dave Grohl explained his extremely close bond with his oldest daughter, Violet Maye Grohl. He told Carson Daly on Today that he spoke to Violet through his wife’s belly before she was born.

“It feels weird to sit there talking to someone’s stomach and saying, like, ‘Hi! I can’t wait to meet you,’” Grohl said. Once Violet was born, he could stop her screaming by talking to her. “I got right close to her face, and I said, ‘Hey, Violet, it’s me.’ And she stopped screaming,” he said.

“We’ve been like that ever since,” Dave added.

While speaking to Daly, Dave noted that his kids inspire him. “My kids inspire me, and it’s that love that then when I go on the road, it makes me want to play music even more,” he said.

Dave Grohl took to Instagram to admit that he fathered a child with another woman while still married to his wife, Jordyn Blum.

“I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage,” he wrote. “I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved as we move forward together.”

A source told People that Dave secured a divorce attorney before posting the announcement. His oldest daughter, Violet, also appeared to deactivate her Instagram.
