Garner once confided that she wasn’t ready to date after her relationship with Affleck ended. The pair finalized their divorce in 2018, but announced their separation a couple of years before in 2015. Afterwards, Garner confided that she wasn’t ready to return to the dating scene, and might not have been for a while.

“I haven’t been on a date and I am not interested in dating,” she once told news.com.au. “People want to set me up and I am just like, ‘No thank you!’”

But it seemed John Miller might’ve helped change her mind. He and Garner were first linked together back in October 2018. According to People, Miller is from a completely different background than Affleck.

Miller was reportedly the CEO of Caligroup, which owns several CaliBurger restaurant chains. Their relationship has seemed to be more on than off, as the two are still seeing each other despite brief breaks in the past. With their romance going strong, next month would make it six years since Garner and Miller were spotted together. But there’s the clear possibility that they might’ve dated a bit longer than that.

Affleck and Garner were an item a lot longer than she and Miller have been. They married in 2005 and stayed together for a decade before splitting. However, the Daredevil stars only dated within a year before tying the knot. Currently, Garner and the business mogul have dated far longer without marrying. A source once claimed that Miller did push for marriage at one point, an idea that Garner rejected. This led to them going their separate ways in 2020.

“He was ready for marriage and she just couldn’t commit,” the source told Us Weekly. “They parted on very amicable terms.”

If the sources are to be believed, it would seem Affleck’s relationship with Jennifer Lopez has ironically interfered with Miller and Garner. Affleck divorced Lopez not too long ago, although there were signs that the couple were already separated earlier in the year. Because of the emotional toll the divorce has had on Affleck, Garner has reportedly been supportive of her ex-husband behind the scenes. But Miller might’ve felt Garner’s actions were disrespectful to their relationship, a sentiment that Lopez shared.

“J. Lo was making a point that she was humiliated by Jen and Ben’s ridiculous closeness,” the source told Life & Style. “Don’t think John didn’t feel the same way! John is still incredulous the woman he was close to marrying pushed him aside to focus on repairing her ex’s love life! How is he supposed to feel?”

“John is at the end of his rope with what he considers Jen’s ‘unfathomable’ support for her ex-hubby while ignoring him in the process,” the source said.

According to the publication, Garner felt she made a mistake, and has since been trying to focus on Miller a bit more.

“Garner realizes she may have overplayed her hand by putting John in second place in this dynamic,” the source said. “Now she’s trying to woo him back and salvage the relationship.”

But at the same time, Garner’s relationship with Miller once seemed to have a positive effect on Affleck. Seeing Garner move on was instrumental in Affleck moving on himself.

“It was very hard for Ben at first, even though he’s the one that pretty much walked away from the marriage,” a source said in a separate Us Weekly interview. “It was a reality check that he wasn’t prepared for.”
