Dave Grohl Revealed His Trait He Thinks His Wife Complains About Most

After 21 years of marriage, Dave Grohl's wife has become well acquainted with her husband's quirks. He shares what he thinks bothers her the most.

In the 21 years of Dave Grohl and his wife Jordyn Blum’s marriage, he thinks one of his traits has bothered her more than the rest. Grohl, who has been in a band for most of his life, admitted that it’s hard for him to listen to Blum. This isn’t because he doesn’t want to, but because of the toll loud music has taken on his hearing.

Grohl has been working as a musician since he was a teenager. After joining the band Scream in 1986, he dropped out of high school to tour extensively with them. In 1990, he joined Nirvana and, following their disbanding, he founded the Foo Fighters. He has been performing live music for most of his life.

According to Grohl, this has caused some frustration for his wife. Years of loud performances have made it hard for him to hear her.

“[I think she complains most about] the fact that I’m virtually deaf,” he told Elle. “Any woman who’s going to date a rock musician has to be prepared to repeat herself every 10 seconds. My wife asks me where we should go for dinner and it sounds like the schoolteacher from Charlie Brown.”

While Blum might find this trait irritating, she still married Grohl in 2003. They wed at their home in Los Angeles and invited only their closest friends and family members.

“It’s not a Vegas thing, man,” he told NME shortly before the wedding (per Foo Archive), adding, “It’s not the Elvis chapel here at the Grohl residence. It’s definitely a party. And you only do it once…or twice. There’s not a massive celebrity guestlist or anything, just a bunch of my friends from Virginia, relatives from Ohio and Louisiana, my fiancee’s family from California and Baltimore. I think Jack [Black] is probably going to come, and maybe Kyle [Gass] might show up. Krist Novoselic is representing. The ushers are my buddies Jimmy, Richie, and Mike from Virginia, people I’ve known since I was five years old, and then Taylor [Hawkins].”

While he hadn’t wanted a serious relationship when he first met Blum, he said he realized life was too short to wait.

“I’ve settled down quite a bit, that’s for sure. A couple of years ago I had an epiphany when I realized life is very delicate,” he said. “It’s too short to wait for anything to happen to you. It’s too short to waste it on anything superficial or unimportant, you have to fill your days with things that are meaningful and real. Getting married has a lot to do with that.”

He recently announced that he had a child outside his marriage

After over two decades with his wife, Grohl announced that he had a child outside of their marriage.

“I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage,” he wrote in a statement. “I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.”
