Jason Duggar is being sued for fraud in Arkansas. The former 'Counting On' star is also accused of lying about having a valid contractor's license.

Another member of the Duggar family is in trouble with the law. Former 19 Kids and Counting cast member Jason Duggar is being accused of breach of contract, breach of warranties, and fraud in a lawsuit filed in an Arkansas court.

The lawsuit was filed Sept. 10 in Benton County Circuit Court. It accuses Jason, 24, of operating a contracting business without a valid license.

According to court documents viewed by Showbiz Cheat Sheet, Jason was the contractor on a newly built house sold in August 2023 by a company called Madison Holding, LLC. Jason was supposed to fix several issues with the home, including the grout in the master bath, the master bedroom closet, cracked drywall, and a faulty pantry door, among other items. Those repairs have not been satisfactorily completed, the plaintiff alleges, and Jason has ghosted the homeowner.

“In recent months, [Madison Holding] and [Jason Duggar] have gone silent on addressing these issues,” according to the complaint.

Screenshots of text messages that appear to be from Jason were included in the filing. In those messages, Jason blamed the delays on his subcontractors. He then suggested to the plaintiff that he “cut … a final check for however much you think it’s gonna cost to get these things.” In exchange, he asked the plaintiff to “sign a contract saying we are no longer responsible for any additional fixes on the home inspection repair list.”

Not only is the disgruntled homebuyer unhappy with the quality of the house they purchased, but they also say that Jason has been skirting the law by operating without a license. Jason is a “purported contractor” whose license number “cannot be found on the Arkansas Contractors Licensing Board” and who “does not appear to operate under a valid contractor’s license.”

The lawsuit against Jason – who recently announced his engagement to Maddie Grace – is not the first time a member of the Duggar family has gotten entangled with the law.

Most notably, in December 2021, a jury found Jason’s older brother Josh Duggar guilty of possessing child sexual abuse material. He is currently behind bars at a federal prison in Texas. Prior to that conviction, Josh was sued by adult film performer Danica Dillon. She claimed he assaulted her after he paid her for sex. She later dismisses the suit. In 2019, Josh was named in a lawsuit involving a fraudulent real estate transaction.

In September 2021, Jason’s older sister Jana Duggar was charged with a misdemeanor count of child endangerment after a child she was babysitting wandered outside alone. The case was settled out of court, with Jana pleading guilty and agreeing to pay an $880 fine.

In 2017, several of Jason’s older sisters sued Arkansas officials for invasion of privacy after documents related to an investigation into Josh for sexually abusing his younger siblings were released to In Touch magazine. In 2022, a judge dismissed the suit.
