Prince Harry and Meghan Markle share two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. And as Harry approaches his 40th birthday, he can’t help but gush about his little ones.

Prince Harry has been through enough in his life to write at least one memoir. And he even joked that he had enough content for a second memoir (but don’t expect one any time soon). The Duke of Sussex, son of King Charles, and brother of Prince William might have seen some serious lows at times in his life, but he has two major highs: His children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Ahead of his 40th birthday in September, Harry couldn’t help but gush over his two children he shares with his wife, Meghan Markle, calling them “life’s greatest joys.”

Prince Harry excitedly talks about Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet

Prince Harry’s life has had a number of highs and lows, and in recent years, his ongoing feud with his father and brother has made the headlines more than any other stories about him. But behind closed doors, Harry is a father to two young children: Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3. And he finally had a chance to talk about how much he loves his children.

“Becoming a father of two incredibly kind and funny kids has given me a fresh perspective on life, as well as sharpening my focus in all my work,” Harry said in a statement to BBC. “Being a dad is one of life’s greatest joys and has only made me more driven and more committed to making this world a better place.”

Harry also added that he was “anxious” about turning 30 but is “excited” about turning 40. “Whatever the age, my mission is to continue showing up and doing good in the world,” he added. Harry and Meghan have been living in Montecito, California since 2020 after they stepped down from their roles as senior working royals in 2020.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been living differently in California

Harry and Meghan have had some negative press since the two started dating in 2016, but their lives are quite different in California than they were in the United Kingdom. While they are still in the spotlight, they have the opportunity to live a much more private life. And although many people have given them a hard time for it, the two are more than four years into this new vision they had for themselves, and they’re still going strong.

Perhaps it’s disappointing that Harry and Meghan’s kids have virtually no relationship with their cousins across the pond, but that could change in time. Although Harry and his brother can’t get along, there could come a day when the kids bring them closer to together, should the little ones ever want to get to know each other and develop a better relationship.
