Jennifer Garner, Matt Damon, and Ben Affleck’s family are ‘in touch’ with Affleck after Jennifer Lopez divorce
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s divorce rocked the media in 2024. The couple first fell in love in the early 2000s but broke up in 2004. A year later, Affleck tied the knot with Jennifer Garner. Garner and Affleck sustained a marriage until 2015 and finalized their divorce in 2018. The exes remained friends, with paparazzi capturing photos of Garner and Affleck visiting each other during Lopez and Affleck’s rocky moments in 2024.
An insider told In Touch Weekly that the divorce has “taken a toll” on Affleck.
“Ben may come across looking all happy and cheery. And he is, for the most part, but he certainly has his down moments,” the source explained. “As much as he was relieved to escape this marriage, the divorce has still taken a toll on him. His reputation has taken a huge hit, and he’s grappling with a lot of guilt.”
While Affleck has allegedly been diving head-first into new work projects, his history with alcohol has Garner worried. She and Affleck’s best friend, Matt Damon, are in touch with each other to communicate regarding Affleck’s mental state.
“That’s the main reason you’re seeing Jen going over there nearly every day to make sure he’s OK,” the source continued. “His mother, his brother, and his close friends, like Matt Damon, are helping out too.”
The insider added that Garner, Damon, and others are “very much a team and acting as a de facto support group” for Affleck. “If they’re seeing a thing to worry about, they alert each other immediately,” they said. “Ben knows they’re all in touch, but he doesn’t know the extent of it.”

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck retained a close friendship post-divorce. While Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were going through difficulties in their marriage, several insiders alleged that Affleck would seek advice from Garner. Unfortunately, seeing Affleck with Garner was allegedly the “last straw” for Lopez.
“Seeing the photos of them looking more like a couple than a pair of exes was the final straw for J.Lo; it was the push she needed to finally file for divorce,” a source told In Touch Weekly .
The insider added that Lopez wondered if Affleck used her as a “pawn” to win Garner back. Affleck allegedly raved about Garner during his marriage to Lopez, which became a “huge issue” in their two years of marriage “because any time they had a fight, he’d go running to Jen.”
J.Lo and her soon-to-be ex met with a divorce lawyer
Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck without a divorce lawyer. However, it seems the couple has now attained a professional for help. TMZ reports the exes headed to their West Hollywood to speak to divorce lawyer Laura Wasser on Sept. 23, 2024. Lopez and Affleck likely won’t finalize their divorce until February 2025.
Wasser has a history with Affleck. She helped him mediate his divorce with Garner in 2018.
OMG!! Ben is supposed to be a grown man! Why should people have to make time to babysit him! He's the one who went after Jlo very publicly! He knew what her life was like!! Then he moves out! I wouldn't put it pass him to get her to pay him money! She's worth much more than he is!! Jlo is better off without him!

All you are doing is enabling him. He is going to use you as far as he can take it until everyone's lives are in the dumpster. Let him stand on his own. If he falls, let him, listen if he wants to talk but make no suggestions, let him find his own answers. if he wants to harm himself then let the authorities take over till he is right.
