In 1994, Tupac was shot multiple times at Quad Studios in New York. As he recovered, he became convinced that Biggie and Diddy had something to do with it. Diddy claimed Tupac was making accusations against them despite knowing that someone else shot him.

“He knows who shot him,” Diddy told Vibe Magazine. “If you ask him, he knows, and everybody in the street knows, and he’s not stepping to them, because knows that he’s not gonna get away with that s***. To me, that’s some real sucker s***.”

He thought Tupac was unfairly making them the “scapegoats.” While he said he saw Tupac as a nice person, he didn’t appreciate his behavior. Biggie, who had been Tupac’s friend before this, also felt stung.

“This s***’s just got to be talk, that’s all I kept saying to myself,” he said. “I can’t believe he would think that I would s*** on him like that.”

After the men who shot Tupac fled the studio, he made his way upstairs, where Diddy, Biggie, and a number of others waited. This was when he began to believe they had been in on it.

“So we jumped in the elevator and went upstairs,” he told Vibe Magazine in 1995. “I’m limping and everything, but I don’t feel nothing. It’s numb. When we got upstairs, I looked around, and it scared the s*** out of me.”

He claimed nobody moved to help him. Instead, they avoided making eye contact with him.

“Nobody approached me. I noticed that nobody would look at me,” he said. “Andre Harrell wouldn’t look at me. I had been going to dinner with him the last few days. He had invited me to the set of New York Undercover, telling me he was going to get me a job. Puffy was standing back too. I knew Puffy. He knew how much stuff I had done for Biggie before he came out.”

Diddy claimed he wanted no part of a feud with Tupac, saying it was unfair that he had been pulled into the rivalry. He said he wanted to see an end to the fighting.

“I’m ready for it to come to a head, however it gotta go down,” he said. “I’m ready for it to be out my life and be over with. I mean that from the bottom of my heart. I just hope it can end quick and in a positive way, because it’s gotten out of hand.”
