Now, Lopez is allegedly working on a “heartbreak” album that will shed more light on her failed marriage to Affleck.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck had an enviable love story that spanned decades. Unfortunately, they couldn’t make their relationship work after two years of marriage. Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024 on their second wedding anniversary, and she marked their official date of separation as April 26, 2024.
Affleck hasn’t publicly reflected on the end of his marriage to Lopez. However, Lopez spoke to Interview Magazine in October 2024 about how moving forward as a single woman in her 50s feels.
“Being in a relationship doesn’t define me,” she said. “I can’t be looking for happiness in other people. I have to have happiness within myself. I used to say I’m a happy person but was still looking for something for somebody else to fill, and it’s just like, ‘No, I’m actually good.'”
Fans of Lopez’s music should expect to get her “most emotional” album “yet” following her divorce. A source told The U.S. Sun that Lopez’s next album “is going to be all about heartbreak. Fans are going to get the real story through her music.”
“Jen really wants that ‘Cry Me A River’-type ballad,” the insider alleged, referencing Justin Timberlake’s hit song.
Another insider noted that Lopez remains focused on the upcoming release of her film, Unstoppable, produced by Affleck and Matt Damon’s film company. This source countered that Lopez isn’t releasing new music anytime soon, as she’s preoccupied with the movie.

“Ben knows that she will talk about the breakup forever,” the insider said. “He would love for her not to talk about it, but he feels she will always speak out.”
The insider added that Affleck is “OK with however” Lopez wants to “deal with” the split. “People deal with loss and breakup in their own way, and this is what Jen had to do, and Ben has to accept it,” the insider said. “He would like to keep some stuff to himself, especially major details about their relationship.”

Jennifer Lopez might have big plans for a new breakup album after she and Ben Affleck finalize their divorce. But for now, she’s happy to keep the split amicable. A source told People that Lopez is “trying to be friendly” with Affleck as they move through the financial details of their split.
“They all came together for a fun lunch so the kids could hang out,” the insider said after Lopez, Affleck, and their kids had brunch at the Beverly Hills Hotel in September 2024. “[Jennifer’s] trying to be friendly with Ben. They are still moving forward with the divorce though. They are working out financial details amicably.”
