Free dental, vision, and medical coming to Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS)— Love Heals The Boot, a completely free clinic offering dental, vision, and medical services, is coming to Shreveport this Saturday.

On June 22, one day only: No insurance, appointment, or IDs necessary.

According to their website, after four years, the Baton Rouge Free Clinic expanded to “ Love Heals the Boot ” to serve individuals ‘without expecting anything in return’ and on a ‘first-come, first-served basis.’

The nonprofit provides free dental, vision, general medical, preventive, and educational services in the US and abroad.

Shreveport’s free clinic will open from 6 AM to 6 PM at the Shreveport Convention Center (400 Caddo Street, Shreveport).

• Medical services include COVID and flu vaccines, treatment of minor urgent care conditions, physical exams, and HIV Testing.
• Vision: eye exams, prescription glasses
• Dental: cleanings, x-rays, extractions, and fillings.

According to Love Heals, the clinics still require volunteers , specifically licensed medical doctors, physician assistants, nurses, board-certified dental professionals, oral surgeons, and other qualified individuals.

Vision professional volunteer positions are full.

Love Heals Free Clinic is operated by Southern University’s Increasing Clinicians of Diversity and Louisiana Healthcare Connections, which” focuses on building the capacity of the minority healthcare workforce to address health disparities and engage in meaningful community work.”
