SHREVEPORT, La. ( KTAL/KMSS ) — According to the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, the ringleader of a car theft ring was arrested last Tuesday.

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) confirmed in their news release on June 18 that 34-year-old Demarcus Clements of Shreveport faces multiple charges, including motor vehicle theft, illegal possession of stolen property, and unauthorized entry of a business.

Sheriff’s detectives believe Clements stole more than 21 vehicles in Caddo Parish.

CPSO details: Clements was first investigated in 2022 for stealing several vehicles at the Union Pacific Railroad Reiser Yard.

They allege Clements altered the vehicles’ appearance by covering their original paint with a vinyl wrap.

The search warrant uncovered key evidence confirming Clements as the ringleader behind the theft of 18 cars from the Greater Shreveport Auto Auction on Greenwood Road.

According to CPSO, when Clement was located, he fled on foot but was successfully apprehended by Detective Jones and Task Force agents.

He is currently detained at Caddo Correctional.
