Houston-based Turkey Leg Hut pop-up draws big crowds in Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, La. ( KTAL/KMSS )—A Houston-based restaurant with a cult following brings its unique dishes to Shreveport and is welcomed with open arms and long lines. The owners of Turkey Leg Hut and Oyster Hut drove their food truck into the Southern Hills neighborhood Thursday evening.

We’re told people have been standing in lines for hours to get a meal from the pop-up event in the parking lot of Sincere Client Care, 2605 Betty Street. Founder and co-owner Lynn Price and his wife have partnered in the venture with Gospel singer James Fortune, who is also in town for the weekend.

“We’ve got the world-famous turkey leg and the oysters, crawfish mac and cheese turkey leg and shrimp alfredo turkey leg. You get your chargrilled oysters with everything from crab to dirty rice on it… lobster, anything,” said Fortune. “So come out here. The menu’s incredible. The people are incredible. They’re tagging us and we really appreciate the support.”

Fortune and Price said they especially appreciate the support because their restaurant in Houston has been without power. The pop-up event continues on Saturday and Sunday. They will begin selling meals at 2:00 p.m. each day.
