Experts are warning investors that they should not buy property in some U.S. cities, and one Louisiana city makes the list.

While we often like to think that our state is prospering, there are some parts of the “Bayou State” that are not doing as well as others, and perhaps that is why one city makes the list of worst cities to invest property in.

Gobankingrates.com recently did some research and they found cities across the country that you should not invest in buying property in, and one major city in north Louisiana made the list.

Sure, you can come up with many jokes about the city or that region of the state, but it is still discouraging to see any city in Louisiana on this list.

Sadly, Shreveport is the city we are talking about here and the reason why you should NOT invest in property here according to the report is this:

“The Shreveport economic growth rate has been modest, mainly because it is connected to the oil and gas industry, which, for the last couple of years, has become too volatile.”

Ben Johnson, who is a real estate agent, says this about the city in north Louisiana”

“The unemployment rate in the city is still higher than the national average,” Johnson said. “Property values have been flat, and the local market has had to grapple with high vacancy rates and almost a total absence of major infrastructure developments.”

If there’s any good news in the report about Shreveport it’s this, a massive bond package that will bring more than 250 million dollars in infrastructure improvements to the city. Shreveport is also the new home of an Amazon Fulfillment Center that will be opening in just weeks.

So while things may be “shaky” for investing in property in Shreveport, change is coming and we hope to see it prosper as it once has, after all, it is a beautiful city.
