A Shreveport acting studio has found a new home after announcing its suspension of operations on June 20 following the sale of city-owned Millennium Studios.

On July 22, Garrett Kruithof, actor and owner of Northwood Acting Studio made a Facebook post stating, "I'm thrilled to announce that I've signed a lease for an amazing new studio space close to downtown on Line Ave!"

Northwood Acting Studio has been serving aspiring actors of northwest Louisiana for the past eight years. During its tenure, its mission has been to nurture and develop local and regional talent by providing a platform for aspiring actors.

The acting studio was located inside the city-owned Millennium Studios.

In April 2024, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson leased Millenium Studios from the city for 30 years at a yearly rate of $2,400. This lease resulted in ceasing current operations at Millennium Studios.

In Kruithof's original Facebook post on June 20, he said, "thank you to 50 Cent and his team and especially Orville Hall for allowing me to be here for as long as possible in the interim."

But since June, Kruithof has been working to find a new location for Northwood Acting Studio. He said in his June 22 post, "this new space has so much potential, with street frontage, a large 4x8 sign, and 1,900 sq. ft. of dedicated areas that we can use in various ways. With a three-year lease in place, we can plan far into the future for the studio!"

He continued by saying, "this journey has been overwhelming, but your support has made it all possible"

Kruithof hopes to have a grand re-opening in September, and he said mark your calendars for Aug. 7 (adult classes) and Aug. 8 (young actor classes).
