Destination Louisiane: Wonder Oasis Water Park

SHREVEPORT, La ( KTAL/KMSS )—A place for families to escape the heat has opened in Shreveport.

The days are hot, but it’s cool at the Wonder Oasis Water Park, where people of all ages can enjoy a relaxing and fun day at the pool.

“I just feel like it’s going to be a great first time for us this summer,” said one family.

This waterpark is well-known to Shreveport locals. It closed for several years before being reopened and revitalized by a new owner.

“This wasn’t here; this is a whole new area. The kiddy park used to be over there; the water slides look way better, but the water also looks good,” said one visitor.

After facing delays and bad weather, the new owner finally welcomed swimmers.

“We’re in this for the long hall. This is not something that’s going to be an overnight fix, and we just want to make sure people understand that this is a really big project, and we want to make it special for the whole city,” said Lee Hovis, Wonder Oasis owner.

Visitors flocked from across the region for opening day. The new owner says it’s been exciting watching the community’s reaction to visiting the park again.

” Little kids will come up and hug me, and I saw you on Facebook, and I was like, oh wow, that’s pretty impactful, but just watching them smile and have a good time has been the best aspect that I could do,” Hovis said.

Wonder Oasis is open every day through the summer, so dive in.
