Louisiana voters will elect all six members of their U.S. House of Representatives delegation this year beginning with the Nov. 5 primary election.

The congressional ballots were set following qualifying in July with the campaigns in full force moving forward.

Following are key endorsements the candidates have landed as their campaigns begin to heat up, including some as recently as this week.

    1st Congressional District

Incumbent Republican Congressman Steve Scalise of Metairie has been endorsed by the Louisiana Republican Party and U.S. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson of Shreveport. Scalise, who has served as the 1st District congressman since 2008, also serves as majority leader, the second most powerful position in the House behind the speaker.

Democrat Mel Manuel , director of operations for the Louisiana Abortion Fund and the co-director of Queer Northshore, an LGBTQ nonprofit in St. Tammany Parish, has been endorsed by the Louisiana Democratic Party.

    2nd Congressional District

Incumbent Congressman Troy Carter of New Orleans, Louisiana's only Democrat in Congress, has been endorsed by the Louisiana Democratic Party. Carter, who has served as the 2nd District congressman since 2021, helped craft the final language of the bipartisan Infrastructure Act as a member of the House Transportation Committee.

Republican Christy Lynch of New Orleans, founder of the Greater New Orleans Republican Women, an elected member of the Republican State Central Committee and a college accounting professor, secured the endorsement of the Louisiana Republican Party on Tuesday.

    3rd Congressional District

Incumbent Repubican Congressman Clay Higgins of Lafayette has been endorsed by the Louisiana Republican Party, U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson and former President Donald Trump. Higgins, who has served as the 3rd District congressman since 2017, was appointed by Johnson to a bipartisan task force that will conduct hearings to investigate the attempted assassination of Trump.

Democrat Sadi Summerlin of Westlake, an educator who is a certified teacher, has secured the endorsement of the Louisiana Democratic Party.

    4th Congressional District

Incumbent Republican Congressman Mike Johnson Shreveport, the first speaker of the House from Louisiana, has been endorsed by the Louisiana Republican Party. Johnson, who was unexpectedly elected speaker last fall following weeks of chaos in the House, is predicting a GOP sweep in the fall elections to take complete control of Congress and the return of Republican Donald Trump to the White House.

    5th Congressional District

Incumbent Republican Congresswoman Julia Letlow of Start has been endorsed by the Louisiana Republican Party, U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson and former President Donald Trump. Letlow, who has served as the 5th District representative since 2021, is Louisiana's only member of the House Appropriations Committee, which controls the country's pursestrings.

    6th Congressional District

Democratic state Sen. Cleo Fields of Baton Rouge has been endorsed by the Louisiana Democratic Party. Fields, chairman of the Senate Education Committee in the Louisiana Legislature, previously served in Congress during the 1990s. Ironically, Fields was a victim of redistricting that dismantled his district boundaries in the 1990s and is now benefiting from a newly redrawn 6th District that favors Democrats and is majority Black.

Republican former state Sen. Elbert Guillory of St. Landry Parish has been endorsed by the Louisiana Republican Party and 3rd District Congressman Clay Higgins. Guillory is an attorney who also pastors a church in Alexandria and has served various roles with the Louisiana Republican Party.
