Long John Silver's restaurant reopens on Jewella Avenue two years after fire

Long John Silver's is open again in south Shreveport after a fire closed the fast-food restaurant closed for nearly two years.

Shreveport Fire Department was dispatched Dec. 18, 2002, to the 8900 block of Jewella Avenue on reports of a fire. Upon arrival, fire fighters discovered heavy smoke coming from the Long John Silver's building.

After two years of rebuilding the restaurant, it is open for business, and customers are lining up to get their taste of the sea.

Long John Silver's originated out of Lexington, Ky., in 1969 and grew into a fleet of restaurants across the United States in the '70s. Shreveport was part of that expansion.

Long John Silver's offers meals that start at $6 and top out at $15.

The newly constructed Long John Silver's is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
