Most of them are selfless members of their teams — guys who aren’t as worried about the personal accolades as they are pushing their team toward success.
Rarely do they garner headlines or grab the attention of college recruiters. But make no mistake about it, unsung athletic athletes, coaches and support personnel are vital to their teams. Just about every team has one or two or three folks who are a bit undersized or a step slow, but who set the example of a solid work ethic for their teammates.
Check out this group of the first 11 of 33 unsung heroes from schools from the Shreveport-Bossier City area. If you’re able to attend one of their games, single them out and tell them thanks for a job well done.
Gage Richards
Glenbrook, Fr.
The skinny: “Gage does everything we ask of him. He is such a tremendous part of our team and the Glenbrook community. He’s our guy without question.” – Coach Reagan Smith
Ethan Robinson
Green Oaks, Jr
The skinny: “Ethan plays the game with an extreme motor. He loves football and playing with his teammates. He is coachable and looks for ways to encourage his teammates. He got injured running 70 yards to prevent a TD against Peabody last season. This year I am enjoying having his leadership back on the field.” – Coach James Bradford Jr.

Marquize Allen
Huntington
The skinny: “Marquize has been a student assistant in our football program since his freshman year, he has done everything from flying a drone daily at practice and uploading practice film to setting up SkyCoach and filming for us on Friday nights. Marquize's contributions to our program over the last three years are invaluable, he is an amazing young man.” – Coach Steve Dennis

The skinny: “Landon is a student at Lakeside who flies the drone for us at practices and games and helps coaches and players improve by providing quality film study from an aerial perspective.” – Coach John Ware
Trey Spann

Dillon McClelland
Logansport
The skinny: “Dillon is our hardest working/most consistent player. He sees playing time at linebacker and fullback as well as all special teams. Game experience will allow this young man to shine in many roles.” – Coach Kevin Magee
Colby Hamilton
Loyola, Sr.
The skinny: “Colby started week one last year at quarterback and has now transitioned into a receiver for us. He has never complained and just wants whatever is best for the team. He might be the hardest worker on the team and is willing to do whatever we ask of him as long as it means the team is successful. If I asked him to be the kicker, he would be out there seven days a week for us trying to be the best kicker he can be. You wish every player had that mentality and work ethic. I have to force him to take a rest and take a day off from all the extra work he wants to put in.” – Coach John Sella
Xavier Simmons
