    Byrd, Parkway, Airline remain undefeated among Week 4 winners in LHSAA football

    North DeSoto’s Kenny Thomas rambled and rumbled for three touchdowns in leading the Griffins to a 28-21 victory over previously undefeated Northwood Friday night at Griffin Stadium.

    The heated contest was the District 1-4A opener for both clubs and the NDHS win allowed coach Dennis Dunn’s club to rebound from a rare two-game losing skid. Braelyn Latin scored twice for the Griffins (2-2, 1-0) while Dakota Denny added a field goal.

    The Falcons (3-1, 0-1) managed scores from Jayden White, John Sneed and talented Kyran Johnson.

    C.E. Byrd 35, John Ehret 14: The Yellow Jackets (4-0) took a trip down to Marerro in South Louisiana and brought back a win over the Patriots (1-3). Desmond Simmons rushed 17 times for 107 yards for two TDs, while Christian Maxie, Quinton Hilliard and Collin Deere each scored rushing TDs for Byrd.

    Parkway 40, Natchitoches-Central 12: The Panthers (4-0, 2-0) kept a perfect record in district and overall with a win over NCHS (0-3, 1-3). Mark Copenhaver had a big pick-6 for Parkway. Carmaro Mayo reached the end zone twice for the Panthers while Jayden Lewis, Antonio Gladney and CJ Dudley all had rushing TDs.

    Captain Shreve 53, Benton 35: The Gators ’ (3-1, 2-1) Brody Savage launched five TD passes against Benton. Caradarrian Devers was the target on three of those TDs. DJ Waldon and Jamarcea Plater. Plater also added two rushing TDs. The Tigers (0-4, 0-3) had two TD passes from Malachi Zeigler to Wade Chandler and Cameron Boxley. Zeigler also added a quarterback keeper for a score. Jaxin Johnson and Greg Chambers each scored rushing TDs.

    Minden 28, Woodlawn 6: The Crimson Tide (4-0, 1-0) remained unblemished with an opening district win over Woodlawn (1-3, 0-1). Minden’s Denarius Crowe scored twice on rushes, while Jaylon McKinney added another run to the end zone. Treshun Young scored a 20-yard interception return. The Knights eliminated the shutout with a 5-yard TD from Quinton Wilson with 32 seconds remaining.

    Huntington 56, Haughton 27: The Raiders (3-1, 3-0) keep rolling as they took their third consecutive win in District 1-5A. Jamarion Washington scored four TDs for Huntington while Kam'Ron Davis and Nyles Hullaby each added additional scores. The Buccaneers (1-3, 0-3) had two scores from Ethan Johnson on rushes and Peyton Harris added a rushing TD. Taylor Weathersby found Jakobe Delaney for a TD pass.

    Loyola 57, Southwood 0: The Flyers (3-1, 1-0) posted the shutout in the battle of the two new kids in town in District 1-4A. Mason Drake scored on three rushing TDs and Bryce Restovich launched three 30-plus-yard TD passes. Jake Black caught two of the TD passes, while Ben Brewer added a 34-yard TD run. Southwood drops to 0-3 and 0-1 in district.

    Homer 32, North Webster 22: The Pelicans (1-3) broke their three-game slide with a home win over the Purple Knights (1-3). Homer’s Gregory Williams reached the end zone twice and Kevin Williams connected with Demetrius Pitts on a passing TD. Michael Wilkins returned a fumble for a score. North Webster’s JKobe Lawson rushed for two TDs and Martravion White had a receiving TD.

    Calvary Baptist 56, D’Arbonne Woods 7: The Wolves (3-1, 0-1) three-game win streak was snapped. The Timberwolves only score came from a TD pass from Daltin Albritton to Wyatt Gilbert.

    North Caddo 46, Magnolia: 6: The Titans (3-1, 1-0) opened the district season with a triple-double. Antonio Moore, Mason Jackson and Tray Morris each had two TDs for North Caddo. The Mariners’ (0-3, 0-1) only score came from a 30-yard TD pass from Travis Sanders to Lorenzo Gardener, who had over a 100 receiving yards against the Titans.

    Union Parish 28, Green Oaks 0: The Fighting Farmers (1-3, 1-0) win over Green Oaks (1-3, 0-1) was not only their first win in District 1-2A, it also their first win of the season. Derrick Dew and Tyquereis Wilson each had two rushing TDs.

    White Castle 48, Red River 30: The Bulldogs (1-3) got three TDs from Warren Bowman but it wasn’t enough to top White Castle (1-3). Cam Hobley added another Red River TD on a run.

    Lakeside 55, Northwood-Lena 20: The Warriors (4-0) remained undefeated with a win over the Gators (1-3). Taron Riley led Lakeside with two rushing TDs and a punt return for a score. Eli Santelices scored on a 10-yard run and scored on defense with a fumble recovery in the end zone. Ken Miller, Brock Case and Eric Jones each scored on a run.

    Glenbrook 36, Cedar Creek 16: Cedar Creek’s (0-4, 0-1) points came from defense and special teams. The Cougars started their scoring with a safety that rolled out of bounds in the end zone. Noah Smith took a scoop and score 38 yards to the end zone and James Myers carried kickoff back 83 yards for a TD.

    Haynesville 51, Plain Dealing 0: The Golden Tornado (4-0, 1-0) tossed a shutout at the 16-man roster of the Lions (0-4, 0-2). Quarterback Isaiah Washington threw three TDs for Haynesville. Ethan Henderson, De’jon Wesson and Jermarquis Hampton were all on the receiving end of those scores. Desmon Sturdivant returned a fumble 12 yards for a score, while L’Travious Brooks and Elbert Modisette added a rushing TD each. Freshman Miller Toney tossed a TD pass to Jaron Perkins.
