Shreveport man dead after fight at his home

A Shreveport man has died following a fight that resulted in him being struck in the head.

On Sept. 29, Billy Sanders, 43, was pronounced dead at Ochsner LSU Health after he got into an altercation with someone at his home in the 3900 block of Merwin Street, Friday, Sept. 27.

According to the Caddo Parish Coroner's Office, Sanders was at his home when he got in a fight with another individual. The other individual hit him in the head, resulting in him falling to the ground.

Sanders was transported to Ochsner LSU Health but succumbed to his injuries two days later.

Sanders' death marks the 41st homicide in Shreveport for 2024 and the 44th in Caddo Parish.

Shreveport Police Department is investigating this homicide.
