Salisbury man cited for driving tractor with suspended license, lacking interlock device
CORNWALL — A Salisbury man was cited for driving with a criminally suspended license after his tractor struck a telephone pole on Cross Road near VT Route 30 on July 19. Vermont State Troopers were called to the scene at 1:03 p.m. where they found 39-year-old Richard Quesnel, who was mowing the road’s edges when his vehicle collided with the pole, causing wires to fall.
Small town's residents fear uncertain future with prison closing
New York's decision to close two maximum-security prisons this fall has left small towns like Comstock in Washington County facing an uncertain future. The state announced Thursday that Great Meadow Correctional Facility in Washington County and Sullivan Correctional Facility in Sullivan County will close Nov. 6, eliminating over 900 jobs. For Comstock, a town that has long relied on the prison for economic stability, the closure threatens to turn it into a ghost town.

LONDONDERRY, Vt. – The Londonderry Selectboard held a special meeting on Saturday, July 13, to appoint a new board member to take the seat left vacant by Melissa Brown’s recent resignation. James Ameden Jr., who was born and raised in Londonderry, was appointed after receiving 120 votes against Steve Twitchell’s 64 votes.
Suspect in 2023 Lynn double homicide arrested in Londonderry
LONDONDERRY — A suspect wanted in connection with a double homicide in Lynn, Massachusetts, last year was arrested Thursday afternoon in Londonderry, local authorities said. Justin Alba, 25, of Lynn, was taken into custody around 2:45 p.m. following a traffic stop at the intersection of Forest Street and Moore Road.

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - A South Burlington man who was out on probation for a shooting in 2021 is back behind bars. Police in Burlington say Bonide Badibanga, 22, is one of multiple suspects who robbed and assaulted two people on Main Street in Burlington at about 3 a.m. Friday.

Moretown Elementary School clean up underway, Crossett Brook and HU also impacted
For the second time in 12 months, Moretown Elementary School flooded, causing damage to flooring, and the school’s boiler in the July 10 flooding. Harwood Unified Union School District superintendent Dr. Mike Leichliter said G.W. Savage was able to get to the site first thing on July 11 and has been working on clean up and remediation. He said with six weeks before the start of the school year he does not expect any delays in reopening the school.

(WCAX) - Vermont Green FC is headed to the USL2 Sweet 16 after a 3-1 win over the Long Island Rough Riders in Ocean City, New Jersey, and fans in Burlington got to watch it in a group. Vivid Coffee serves as one of the club’s sponsors and hosted Friday afternoon’s event where supporters watched the livestream of Jacob Labovitz’s hat trick in the Green’s win. It was a great chance for fans to share in the atmosphere even though they were 400 miles away. “It’s the best place to be if you can’t make it down to the match,” said Mike Popovitch, a member of the Green Mountain Bhoys supporters group. “I think that fact that Ian (Bailey, owner of Vivid) does this and Vivd Coffee does this for us is pretty amazing. It brings the community together. Being able to watch an event from a team that really has brought the entire Burlington community together.” The Green will play again Sunday evening, taking on Northeast Division rival Seacoast United.
