The ferry system has its origins in the mosquito fleet, a collection of small steamer lines serving the Puget Sound area during the later part of the nineteenth century and early part of the 20th century. Seattle Ferry Terminal is at Pier 52 Seattle, Marion St & Columbia St, Waterfront.

The ferries are painted in a distinctive white and green trim paint scheme and feature double-ended open vehicle decks and bridges at each end so that they do not need to turn around.

You can buy tickets online or in person. They are valid for 90 days. Commuter or discounted passes are available on the passes page.

The best ferry rides in Seattle are:

Downtown Seattle to Bainbridge Island (40-45 Minute)

Anacortes to Lopez Island (40 Minute)

Fauntleroy (West Seattle) to Vashon Island (20 Minute)

    Edmonds to Kingston (30 Minute)

Mukilteo to Whidbey Island (20 Minute)

Customers planning to park and walk on the ferry can find parking information for Seattle's Pioneer Square and waterfront neighborhoods at Downtown Seattle parking.

The passenger pick-up/drop-off area is in front of the passenger terminal entrance, and vehicles may access this area via Madison Street, just north of the terminal. Contact the Ferry Advisory Committee chair representing your community with suggestions or concerns about ferry service.
