CHBC Routs Odin to Win Season Opener
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City opened up their fall season with a big 11-1 win on the road at Odin on Thursday. The Bobcats offense kicked into gear early with a big first inning. With one out, AJ Radloff singled to be the first Bobcat baserunner before Wyatt Rueff doubled and Kyle Lamb singled to score Radloff for a 1-0 lead. Back to back to back walks from Blake Mueller, Kale Hardimon and Hunter Pope brought in two more runs to push the lead to 3-0. RBI singles from Kaidyn Calame and Clive Schlanser pushed the lead to 5-0 before steals of home by Pope and Calame edged the lead to 7-0 and Schlanser scored on an RBI groundout by Conner Nowitzke to make it 8-0 midway through the first inning. CHBC would hold the Eagles scoreless through the first four innings but they too were unable to score in the second, third and fourth to keep it an 8-0 ball game. CHBC got a two out rally going in the top of the fifth inning led off by Nowitzke getting a single to left field and followed by a walk by Radloff and Rueff getting hit by a pitch to load the bases. A single by Kyle Lamb brought in Nowitzke and a double by Mueller scored Radloff and the courtesy runner Isaac Wells to tack on three more runs for a 11-0 lead. Odin was able to get one run on the scoreboard in the inning, but the Bobcats were able to hold off Odin to close out the 11-1 five inning run rule win to kick off their season at 1-0. Lamb had a big day going 3 of 4 at the plate with a pair of RBI while also pitching two scoreless, hitless innings for the Bobcats.
